NEW HOPE GLOBAL'S COMMUNITY Engagement & Cohesion

From increasing community events to addressing issues such as mental health exacerbated due to Covid-19, improve physical health, reduce high unemployment, community safety and policing, cost of living crisis, etc. community engagement can help local organisations connect with their residents to address these vital issues together.

We believe that community engagement doesn't have to be difficult, and it is not that communities are 'hard to reach' but organisations need to make services more accessible to communities who are included in services. To enable all organisations to tap into the benefits of community engagement, we have identified one of our key areas that should be Community Engagement and Cohesion to empower, integrate and strengthen our communities. When you invest in community development to create safer more vibrant and communal communities, you can achieve better opportunities for people.

visit to the council house

On Monday 27th February 2023, Aston Councillors Mumtaz Hussain and Councillor Ayub Khan kindly invited New Hope Global to visit the Council House with its beneficiaries.  23 women were given the opportunity to participate in the trip which included a grand tour, fascinating talks about the history and heritage of the Council House, explanation about the roles of the Lord Mayor and area councillors.  Our beneficiaries had the opportunity to ask questions and put forward issues faced by residents to Councillor Mumtaz.  The tour finished with a lovely spread of lunch provided courtesy of our Councillors.

Thank you so much to Councillor Mumtaz, Councillor Ayub and the entire team of the Liberal Democrat.

New Hope Global delivered a successful Community Family Cricket Day at Aston Park in partnership with Active Wellbeing Society.  This event’s purpose is to NHG’s commitment to:

  • Getting communities together

  • Raising awareness and working to eliminate health and sports inequalities in BAME Communities

  • Promoting positive relationships between our diverse communities

  • Encouraging social interaction and reduction of loneliness

  • Raising awareness of sports not often taken up by women and BAME communities

We consider that an inclusive family-oriented sport and social event for the entire community in the area is one of the best ways of encouraging all these strands and bringing everyone together for a day of fun.

The family friendly match was well attended by women and children and successful and was oversubscribed in terms of the team participant that took part.  We hope that next year the Community Family Cricket Day will be even bigger!

Families enjoyed the day and thanked New Hope for arranging an activity during half-term, they liked taking part in the sports with their children.  All participants received trophies and medals for taking part.
