Afsana Khan
Community Development Officer
Afsana is a Senior Community Development Officer at New Hope Global who leads on Training, Employment, Arts, Heritage, Health and Well-being services. As a Community Development Officer, Afsana is responsible for planning, preparing, delivery and co-ordinating a range of high-quality services for the BAME communities living in Birmingham and its surrounding areas.

Having completed her bachelor’s degree in Criminology with Sociology she opted to work within the third sector. She is an Information Advice and Guidance qualified advisor with over 15 years’ experience in employment and training. Throughout her career, she has aided with employment related matters and identified barriers that deter employment such as mental and physical well-being, housing, immigration, isolation/loneliness, money, and welfare benefits issues.
Her passion to make a difference motivates her to inspire change and improve the quality of life in local people. She seeks to help empower people with the skills they need to effect change within their communities, particularly in upskilling and training those who have been long term unemployed. She oversees a range of project including walking, bell boating, sports activities, cycling for beginners and confident riders as well as training and employment initiatives.
She has a strong work ethic and enthusiastic about community development and is dedicated to this cause.
